The International Foundation for Patient Blood Management (IFPBM) has announced the appointment of Dr. Diana Castro Pauperio and Dr. Ángel Augusto Pérez Calatayud to its Board of Trustees, further strengthening the Foundation’s global leadership and advancing its mission to promote Patient Blood Management (PBM) worldwide.
Dr. Diana Castro Pauperio is a consultant anaesthesiologist for cardiac surgery and structural interventional cardiology at Unidade Local de Saúde de Gaia e Espinho (ULSGE), Portugal. She serves as President of the Portuguese Chapter of the Sociedad Iberoamericana de Patient Blood Management (SIAPBM) and has contributed as a reviewer to the WHO Implementation Guidance on Patient Blood Management.
“I am honored to join the IFPBM Board of Trustees at such an important time for global healthcare,” said Dr. Castro Pauperio. “Patient Blood Management is essential to improving patient safety and outcomes, and I look forward to supporting the Foundation’s efforts to expand PBM adoption through collaboration, education, and innovation.”
Dr. Ángel Augusto Pérez Calatayud, based in Mexico, is an internationally recognized specialist in emergency medicine and critical care medicine. He has played a pivotal role in advancing PBM initiatives across Latin America as Patient Blood Management Chapter Director for the Mexican College of Critical Care Medicine (COMMEC), supporting education, policy development, and regional collaboration.
